Can I politely turn down offers to throw baby showers?

I am not a fan of showers. I didn't have a conjugal shower because the thought of having everyone i know invited together to make pocket-sized talk, play dizzy games, and requite me presents horrified me. It kind of bugs me when people I haven't talked to in years ship me shower invites so I can get brand awkward conversation for a few hours with a bunch of ladies.

I will graciously accept a gift for baby, and would even love if they bought me dinner. But I don't want to attempt to entertain several groups of friends while they are all trying to guess how large I am with a piece of string.

It's okay to let them know I do not want a shower, but I appreciate the offer and if they want to help LO or me out they can in other ways --like cleaning my house ;)

I don't know that you lot can decline i offer but inquire for something else

Totally concur! I think they are silly and just an alibi for the mother to get gifts!

I won't be having ane either. Most of my friends are relieved likewise

I feel the exact same way you practise. I didn't accept the balls to say no when my friend offered.. If/when she brings information technology up again, I think I'll attempt to leave if it.

I felt similar I was the only one on this! I was forced with my conjugal shower just am refusing a babe shower.

@hamburgerholden,

I of my friends had a dinner to gloat baby. Most people brought souvenir cards.

@hamburgerholden,

I don't invite my friends to the baby shower for that exact reasons only my family unit merely my friends have offers to do a mommy spa solar day just a way to relax with your girls and you don't take to take small talk cause you lot'll exist to busy getting a prenatal massage and getting your nails done lol

@sammycakes12,

And when I say reasons I mean having modest talk with friends that you haven't seen in awhile gets kinda bad-mannered

If you wouldn't tell someone you hate their Christmas souvenir and ask where to return information technology then why would y'all tell someone trying to practice something nice for yous no? Perchance suggest a small affair where you lot and a few friends become get pedicures or something instead but flat refusal is bad manners in my opinion. That's not meant rude, I hate social affairs and refuse to ask for anything, my mother taught me yous don't ask and honestly wouldn't give me a buck if I was starving on the street. But when people desire to do things like a babe shower, 99% of the fourth dimension is a way for them to recoup for something else and them to prove off their "Pinterest Martha Stewart wannabe" skills.

I totally feel the same way! I hate babe showers with passion. LOL All my friend knows... There is no mode I volition accept one.

I don't want one either. If someone does volunteer the affair I desire to do is have a book bulldoze to get donations for a library project I am a part of - something like bring two books, one for my baby, one for the libraries. So I could feel actually good about the issue and not silly.
